The first time I stayed at a bed & breakfast was when my wife and I went on our first anniversary vacation weekend. We knew we wanted to away, we just weren’t sure where or anything you wanted to do.
A colleague of hers showed her a book of bed & breakfasts’ around the United Conditions. She brought the book home to me to have a look to see what Believed about going to one of these for our anniversary. With zero experience (at the time) and zero an understanding of bed & breakfasts’ We had arrived a bit skeptical. Must really want to spend my weekend staying in someone’s home?
The more I learn the bed & breakfast lifestyle, the more I came to be intrigued, until finally my wife got hooked and we booked a bed & breakfast in upstate Vermont. I can honestly say it was a fun time. The bed & breakfast owners treated us like royalty, waited on us like we were a king and queen, and meals is (that was included in purchase price) was simply unbelievable.
Since then my family and I are usually to two other bed & breakfasts, one in Williamsburg, VA and another in upstate Manhattan near Seneca Lake. Although the concept each bed & breakfast were similar, these different in a variety of ways. For instance in Vermont at breakfast and dinner (both that were included) we sat at individual table in the adjoining restaurant. In NY and VA we ate a big table with each of the other guests. In VA the owners took care of everything, well them and their little kids. In NY and VT the owners ran the place but also had help to get rooms ready whilst the place clean. In VT we had our own outside entrance to our own room as in case the room was some of our house. In NY and VA you’d your own bedroom in the same house with the other guests.
Regardless of whichever style you choose, if you never ever stayed at a bed & breakfast you should. 1 was wonderful and you really felt like your story were part of the owner’s family a person stayed there.
I would recommend first pick a setting where you know you would really like to stay. Would you like the hills? How about the sun or a tropical island? Once you recognize what you really want to do, take a look up the bed & breakfasts their areas that you have targeted and start reading up with them. Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other book stores have awide variety of books you can try without purchasing to get this information. Additionally you can go to check your local library or look to your bed & breakfast directory online.
Once you experience the location and motivate it narrowed down to one or two possible bed & breakfast choices, start pricing them out and pay attention to if they are formed in your budget. Let me tell you that they are a bit pricier then a normal hotel room (some of them anyway). However verify which kind of amenities you get for your offering price. Most come with breakfast, otherwise always be just be called Bed & move out of my house in the morning. You get the point. Some also serve dinner and offer afternoon tea & snacks. Find out what you get for your money. It will definitely along with your decision.
